The Sunday Reset That Keeps Me (Mostly) Sane
Sunday nights used to feel extremely overwhelming. With a basket full of dirty laundry, a sink full of dirty dishes, and a fridge asking for a plan, we started the week feeling behind. My brain was spinning in six directions, and not one of them was restful. So, out of sheer survival, I started doing a "Sunday Reset." Not some Pinterest-perfect checklist. Just a handful of things that help me start the week without unraveling by Tuesday.
It's simple. Not sacred. But it works.
1. The 15-Minute Quick Clean Up
I set a timer. Whatever I see — toys, dishes, goldfish crackers ground into the rug — I tackle it. Not deep-cleaning. Not impressing anyone. Just… clearing the surface chaos.
2. Meal Plan-ish
I jot down 3–4 dinner ideas. Typically, something like tacos, a rotisserie chicken, and maybe pasta. Then I grocery shop (or at least order for pickup). If I'm on a roll, I prep a couple of quick meals at the start of the week so everyone has an idea of what we're going to eat.
3. Glance at the Week Ahead
I grab my calendar. Sometimes my husband joins me, sometimes it's just me and the sticky notes. I check for anything sneaky, like theme days at school or work meetings I forgot I agreed to. It's five minutes. But it saves me five headaches.
4. Lay Out Clothes (Even My Own)
This one felt silly at first, but it helps. Because it helps me feel like I am starting the week ahead of my "To Do List".
5. Write a Tiny Monday List
Just three things. Not the whole week. It can be as simple as get dressed, make coffee, and survive drop off.
If I get all three, it's a win. That's It. No Magic. No Pressure.
Some weeks, I complete all five of my little tricks. Other weeks? I do one, and that's enough. But this reset — in whatever form I manage — gives me a sense of calm. And in this season of life, calm feels like gold.
